More About the Jenkins
Senior Living Community

Founded in 1927, the Jenkins Senior Living Community includes both residential and health care services that address the changing needs of seniors as they age. Our goal is to give seniors the opportunity to “age in place” by providing an array of services on the campus.  All of the programs in the community are linked by enclosed connecting hallways.

A board-certified internist and geriatrician as well as an adult nurse practitioner have a practice on the campus to provide primary care to interested residents. The Jenkins Senior Living Community is Maryland’s first and only senior living community to offer a full continuum of senior care for those of low to moderate income.

DePaul House and St. Joachim House together include 199 rent-assisted one and two-bedroom apartments for seniors capable of living independently or with minimal supportive services. Residents may enroll in the Senior Support Services program which provides housekeeping, meals, and personal care at minimal cost.

Caritas House Assisted Living provides a secure, homelike environment for residents unable to live independently. Residents have 24 hour access to nursing staff, complete meal service, housekeeping, assistance with activities of daily living, a complete program of recreational activities and access to physicians’ services.

St. Ann Adult Day Services is available for older adults who, for health and safety reasons, cannot remain home alone during the day. Open five days a week, the program provides structured, fun, stimulating activities for seniors as well as medication management and transportation. A full-time nurse and social worker are on duty as well as an experienced and dedicated staff.

St. Elizabeth Rehabilitation and Nursing Center is a 162-bed facility providing high quality long and short-term nursing and rehabilitative care. Services include geriatric rehabilitation, long-term care, a 30-bed Alzheimer’s care program, and a Hospice program, as well as a full recreational program.

Our care and concern for the needs of seniors and their caregivers includes a free telephone information and referral service - Answers For The Aging. In addition, Just For Caregivers is a program for relatives and others who are the primary caregivers for their senior loved ones. Either must be a resident of Baltimore City. Both are telephone- based programs located on the Jenkins Senior Living Community campus.
