Sarah's House

One of the many Sarah's House families who will benefit from the donations.
Our mission at Sarah's House is to provide safe shelter, daily meals, personal, as well as professional casework support for those in need. Sarah's House is one of seven shelters in the United States supported by the U.S. Army.
In the spirit of the biblical figure of Sarah, we welcome with hospitality those who come to us and try of offer a sense of hope in the face of homelessness.
On the edge of Fort George G. Meade Army Base, Sarah’s House houses up to 125 people daily in combination of our emergency shelter and transitional housing. Upon arrival at Sarah's House, each of our guests are assigned a caseworker to connect them to the services and program they are in need of. As a supportive housing program for homeless families, Sarah’s House is much more than just a safe place to sleep. Our goal is to effect positive change in the families we serve by providing the following:
- parenting classes
- GED classes
- computer certified classes and workshops (which are funded by both Anne Arundel Community College and United Way)
- employment programs
- licensed child care center
- variety of counseling services
- transportation to and from work and doctor appointments
- three meals each day
- clothing and hygiene products provided
Emergency Shelter
Our emergency shelter program provides housing up to 90 days.
Transitional Housing
Our transitional housing program provides housing 18 to 24 months.
Outreach Caseworkers
Sarah's House Outreach Program provides casework assistance for 12 months.
"Everything that I have been able to do - get my kids in daycare, find a full-time job, learn how to budget my money - is thanks to Sarah's House,"said Lauren Volker, a former Sarah's House resident. "The volunteers and staff have been wonderful, and have been such a help to me and my family. This program teaches you a lot and gives you the tools to be independent. I am determined to make it on my own, and thanks to Sarah's House I am more determined than ever."

“I have two blessings in this world, my boy and Sarah’s House.” With the help of Sarah's House, Sherman and his son are well on their way to a brighter future.
