Referrals for admission are sent to the Admissions
Coordinator. The Coordinator will screen the referral packet and
respond in writing or by phone to the referring agency to acknowledge
that the referral was received and is being processed. If the child
is considered inappropriate for admission, based on the referral
packet information, the referral source will be notified of the
reason for rejection. If the child is considered appropriate for
admission, based on the preliminary screening, the admissions process
will follow.
Emergency Referrals: When a local
DSS calls with an emergency referral, our purpose is to find the
most appropriate placement resource if at all possible. The Admissions
Coordinator will take the description of the child and discuss whether
this client meets our admissions criteria and if we have any available
treatment family resources. If there is an available treatment family,
the AC will consult with a supervisor regarding worker availability.
The AC will contact the family to see if they are interested in
the child. If the family is interested, the identified worker (or
designee) will coordinate the placement.
No one will be discriminated against on the
basis of race, sex, religion, national origin, sexual preference,
age or handicap. The information obtained shall be considered confidential
in accordance with the principles of social work practice.
