Advocacy

Our advocacy network, the Legislative Education Group (L.E.G.), is an easy, yet powerful way to advocate for vulnerable Marylanders. More than 550 L.E.G. members receive educational material on issues and speak out during Maryland’s General Assembly each year on behalf of at-risk children and families, people living in poverty, those who are aging and those living with developmental disabilities. Join us and make a positive impact in the lives of others!

Catholic Charities' Parish Social Ministry works with parishes to foster their social justice and outreach ministry, educate parishioners to serve those who are poor and vulnerable through both charity and justice, and provide opportunities for the spiritual development of individuals in this ministry. We are a resource for support, guidance, and information on a variety of topics and possibilities for your parish’s social ministry.

Our Social Concerns staff brings the issues facing vulnerable people served by Catholic Charities to state policymakers and the wider community. We promote a greater understanding of social justice by sharing the stories of the people we serve and the lessons learned by our staff. We develop effective advocacy strategies in coalition with like-minded people and groups.
